As summer is sadly coming to an end, I have decided to share with you what I have been loving throughout the summer months. This post is in collaboration with Marissa from SimplyMarissa, her blog is amazing and you should definitely go and check it out, you can find Marissa here. If you would like to check out her Instagram you can find her at @siimplymarissa, her feed is so lovely.
Firstly, this summer I have been loving a few new makeup bits. These being; the Physicians Formula Bronzer (review coming soon), the Rimmel Brow This Way Clear Brow Gel and the Wet N Wild Photofocus Concealer (I recently uploaded a full review of this, you can find it here). The bronzer has been essential to me this summer as I love looking tanned and healthy, the bronzer itself looks very natural which I like but you can also build it up for a more bronzed look. The Rimmel Brow Gel has been an essential this summer as it has kept my eye brows in place and means that I don’t have to use any other brow products as it makes them look slightly fuller. Finally, the Wet N Wild Concealer has been an essential this summer as I have been loving not using a really brightening concealer for my under eyes, it is also perfect for days when I haven’t wanted to wear loads of makeup but also want to cover some spots etc.
Another essential this summer has been fake tan. Before this summer I had never fake tanned but wanted to look naturally bronzed for prom so tried out the St. Moriz Instant Tanning Mousse in medium. This applies really easily and aslong as you let it dry for a decent amount of time, it doesn’t go patchy or streaky. At first it was very dark and not what I wanted but after 2 showers it was perfect and looked natural. This fake tan was only £2.99 which I was very impressed with considering other mousses are much more expensive.
Something else which I have been using tons throughout the summer is the Vaseline Cocoa Moisturiser Spray. This makes applying moisturiser so much faster and easier. During the summer months I moisturise a lot more as I shave my legs more and it helps to stop my skin from peeling if I have been out in the sun. The scent of this is so nice and it makes your skin feel so smooth.
At the beginning of summer, I picked up 2 new pairs of sunglasses from River Island and have been LOVING them and using them pretty much every day of the summer. One of the pairs is black and the other is black with gold rims. I have gotten more use out of the plain black pair as these go with everything. They are both really good quality and have been accidentally dropped a few times and haven’t broken (which has happened to a few other sunglasses I have owned). They were around £10 and I’m very impressed, I will definitely be going back to River Island to get sunglasses next summer.
In summer, I really like painting my nails white as I feel like it makes you look more tanned and I only feel comfortable having white nails in summer as it is such a stand-out colour. I have been using the Essie nail varnish in the shade Blanc throughout the summer and have loved how it looks. You only need 2 coats and it lasts for about a week before it starts chipping. Essie nail varnishes never fail to impress as they are such good quality and need barely any coats.
Whilst in Florida I picked up a Victoria’s Secret spray in the scent Splash. This scent is perfect for summer and as soon as I smelt it I thought of summer. I’d describe the scent as girly, fresh, floral and fruity. These sprays are really long lasting and I can smell the scent hours after spraying it. It doesn’t look like I have used a lot of it this summer but I’ve been using it mostly every day!
My final summer essential this year has been my journal/planner. As I have been off school I have been quite busy and often lose track of plans so this has been very helpful and reminds me of what I have going on and when.
Thank you so much to Marissa for doing this collaboration. Once again, if you haven’t already, you should definitely check out Marissa’s blog here as her posts are amazing and I’m obsessed with her new design/layout.
