Makeup Revolution Eye Shadow Review

Makeup Revolution is a drugstore brand, known for its amazing and affordable products. I’m a huge fan of this brand and love many of their products. I often see people raving about their eye shadows and having owned 2 of their palettes myself, I have decided to share my opinions with you about them.

Firstly, the 2 palettes I have are the ‘Redemption Palette Iconic Elements’ and the ‘Redemption Palette Iconic 2’. I bought both of these from Superdrug and they were £4.00 each. The packaging of the product is very good quality and doesn’t break easily (which I have found with other cheap eye shadow palettes such as MUA). They both come with 12 shades which is amazing for such a low price. Both palettes come with a sponge eye shadow applicator, but I much prefer brushes as they make it much easier to blend so don’t get any usage out of these.

The Redemption Palette Iconic 2 contains 3 matte shades and 9 shimmer shades. As much as shimmer shades are great, they make the palette harder to create a full look from. This means that whenever I do use this palette, I also have to use other palettes to have a good balance between mattes and shimmers. I wouldn’t say that this palette follows a certain colour scheme, however, I would say they are all quite cool-toned bar the orangey gold. Every shadow in this palette has very good pigmentation and I’m so impressed by it. Very little of the matte shades are needed to get a very high pigmentation, however, the shimmery shades take a little more building up (this is pretty common with all shimmer shades though). My favourite shades from this palette would have to be the light gold, the orangey gold, the greyish silver and the brownish gold as they are all quite different from shades I have in other palettes and they are the easiest to create looks out of. With most shimmer shades you have to expect fall-out when applying, even though you do have fall-out with these shades, there is very little which is amazing.

The Redemption Palette Iconic Elements is a palette filled with 11 matte shades and 1 shimmer shade. The shimmer shade in this palette is a perfect inner-corner / brow bone highlighter as the pigmentation is amazing! This palette is so much easier to create a look with as you are spoilt for choice with all of the matte shades. The shadows range from pinky toned to different shades of brown which are great for when you want to do a brown-ish look (which is pretty much my go -to look). The pigmentation of the matte shades isn’t as good as the shimmers from the other palette, however, it is still good and they are very build-able so it is still easy to get a pigmented look. These shades definitely have less fall-out than the shimmers and are very easy to blend when using eye shadow brushes! My favourite shades in this palette are the highlighting shimmer, the light browns, the pink toned brown and the chocolate brown. If you are travelling and have limited space for makeup then this palette would be fab as you can create so many different looks with it and don’t have to take any other eye shadow products.

Both palettes have a black shade which is great as black is such a staple shade in an eye shadow palette. Overall, I think both of these palettes are amazing and would definitely recommend them. However, if you are wanting a palette which provides you with enough to create a full look then I would go for the Iconic Elements whereas, if you are willing to use the shimmers along with other shadows then I would go for the Iconic 2. OR you could even just get both of these palettes and use them together, for £4 each, can you really go wrong?

I’m definitely planning on trying out more Makeup Revolution products in the future as they are so good for such a low price, so look out for those posts! Also, let me know in the comments if you have tried out any Revolution products and loved them!

  1. Those two palettes really complement each other well, don’t they? Like you say, at £4 a pop, it’s affordable to get both to create a full look. I *really* like the look of the full matte one – I think I shall need to pick one up next time I’m in town!
