Review: PIXI MatteLast Liquid Lip

If you follow me on any of my social medias then you may have seen that I am lucky enough to receive quite a few PR packages from PIXI and I recently got sent a gorgeous package full of their new MatteLast Liquid Lips and 4 colours in little pots for me to be able to mix my own shade!! In this post, I will be reviewing the new liquid lips as I was so excited to try them out and tell you guys what I think.

In the package, I received 11 different shades of the liquid lipsticks, which I’m pretty sure is the full collection. They range from lovely nudes to bright pinks to autumnal reds which I absolutely love as I know I will use so many of these! The lipsticks retail for £16 each and you can find them here on the PIXI website. They claim to be ‘Infused with Rosehip Oil, this longwearing liquid lip sets to a matte veil for a full-on colour while keeping lips hydrated’.

Firstly, look at the packaging of these, I love how PIXI always have some element of the mint green showcased in their packaging as it makes their products rally stand out when mixed with my other makeup. It is also very sleek and each of them feel really good quality.

The applicator isn’t your classic doe-foot, it is in a tear drop shape which I found really interesting as it is actually so much easier to apply with this, you use the smaller (tip) end to do the outline of your lips and then use the wider end of the brush to fill them in.

For this review, I decided to pick out 4 of the shades which represent the spectrum of colours in the collection.

Firstly, we have the shade Au Naturelle, as soon as I saw this shade, I knew I was going to get so much wear out of it as I love a good nude lipstick. It has pink and light brown undertones to it with a slight hint of orange. This was the first one that I tested out on my lips, I applied it and it all went on really nicely and then after about a minute and a half it had dried down fully and didn’t want to budge (which is exactly what a liquid lip should do). I like the fact that it doesn’t dry down straight away as this means that if you have made any mistakes, you can quickly and easily resolve it. I wore this one for the longest out of all of them as it is very long-lasting, it also didn’t dry out my lips at all and didn’t form in to the cracks.

The next shade I will be talking about is Evening Rose, this is a really pretty darker nude with dark pink and brown undertones. This shade is perfect for everyday use and it goes with so many makeup looks. I especially love darker nudes like this when it comes in to Autumn/Winter as it definitely goes with the season and fashion. This applies exactly the same as Au Naturelle (as do all of the shades) which I love. This lipstick is really flattering and I can’t wait to keep using it!

Another of the shades is Real Red, this is a very bold, red coloured lipstick but it is absolutely stunning. I am not a massive lover of how red lipstick looks on me as I often find that it makes me look washed out or very pale but because of the darker undertones in this one, I feel like it doesn’t do this. Red is one of my favourite colours to wear clothes wise but for some reason I feel like red is very out of my comfort zone on my lips so I’m going to push my boundaries and start wearing this out more.

The final shade that I will be reviewing is Berry Boost, this red shade has very strong purple undertones and is absolutely perfect for autumn, it is a very classic berry shade which we all know and love! I often find with berry shades that they don’t have the best coverage or need a few layers to have the full affect, but not this one, with one simple application, you instantly have the full coverage look that you desire which is amazing. I can’t wait to start pairing this with different autumnal eye shadow looks and clothes.

This photo was taken just after the swatches had been done so they hadn’t fully dried down yet which is why they look slightly glossy.

Another important aspect of these lipsticks is their scent, they smell just like a chocolate orange (and taste slightly like it too), could they get any better?? The scent is quite strong and you can definitely smell it when its on your lips but I don’t find it overpowering at all. If you don’t like the scent of chocolate orange then you may be better off giving these a test before buying them, just incase.

Overall, I am so pleased with this whole collection and also love the other shades so expect to be seeing them on my social medias and me wearing them in future posts. Its also important to note that PIXI are cruelty free and paraben free which makes spending a little extra money more worth it. Once again, if you would like to view the products mentioned in this post click here.

I’d like to thank the team at PIXI for sending me this collection, I am so grateful.

I’d also like to state that I was not obliged to do this post and it is not sponsored, PIXI were just kind enough to send me their products to test out and since I love them, I wanted to share them.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope you enjoyed. If you’d like to follow me on Instagram or Twitter you can find me at @bethxkate.
