My Top 5 Holiday Destinations

I love travelling and it is something which I wish I could do more (if it wasn’t for all of the costs that come along with it). I am in no way a travel blogger and my only travel themed posts are travel diaries which I always enjoy writing and picking my image for but never take further so thought I would today.

For this post, I will be ranking my top 5 holiday destinations that I have visited. I am super grateful for all of the trips that I have been on but there are a few that I will never forget.

In 5th place would have to be Rome in Italy, I loved exploring Rome. There were so many different activities to do, the food was amazing (you can’gt beat a good pizza) and the places we visited were amazing. In Rome, me and my family did the typical tourist, open bus tour, this showed us so much and meant that we could get off at many different stops to explore throughout the day. Rome was also great for photography as it had stunning buildings and we had amazing weather on our stay which is expected in August.

In 4th place would be Cologne in Germany, I have been lucky enough to visit twice to the Christmas markets within December and both times have been amazing! I went once with school and once with my family, I preferred visiting with my family as there was more freedom and we crammed in as much as we could in to the days we were there. I would absolutely love to go back and this also makes me want to explore other Christmas markets! Sadly, I wasn’t as in to photography then as I am now but here is a picture from my 2012 trip on my very old camera of some weirdly shaped buildings in Germany near the Christmas markets!

In 3rd place is Venice in Italy.. as you can probably tell, I really liked Italy. Venice was a stunning city with gorgeous buildings and so many photography opportunities. I would have loved to go on a gondola and experimented more with the food I ate (as I basically stuck to pizza and pasta) but being there just felt like an unreal experience. The only down side to Venice was that it was quite busy and as the streets can be quite thin, it sometimes feels overcrowded. Here is one of my favourite pictures that I took in Venice, it was down a little alleyway where there was a small hotel.

If you know me then you have got to expect my 2nd choice which is Orlando, Florida. I love love love Florida for so many reasons. Of course, Disneyland is amazing but there’s so much more to it (but don’t get me wrong, I love Disney). Me and my family enjoy visiting the beaches which are usually about on hour away from where we stay, we also take advantage of the huge shopping malls and outlets and take time to relax and enjoy all of the amazing food! We also enjoy walking around Celebration which is an area in Florida reasonably near to Disney. It is a gorgeous place filled with classic american houses and a lake to walk around, the photo below was taken here.

Finally, my number 1 holiday destination would have to be Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m lucky enough to have visited 3 times which many people don’t understand as they see it as a one time holiday but me and my family never get bored and always find more to do. If you hire a car then this gives you the chance to visit the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon which isn’t too far of a drive. There’s also so much to do whether it be the open top bus or an activity within the hotels. Something that we did on our 2018 trip was glow in the dark mini golf which we had never tried before and we all enjoyed. If you ever get the chance, go! It is not just a place for adults to go on hen or stag do’s, as a 17 year old, I really appreciate it as a place and everything it has to offer. Of course, I’d love to be able to experience the night clubs and pool parties but there’s so much more! This picture was taken outside of our hotel (the MGM Grand), you can also see the New York, New York hotel in the background which has got the roller coaster on it!

I really hope that you enjoyed this post as it is slightly different for me! Let me know your top holiday destination in the comments below.

Revolution Rose Gold Palette Review + Look

If you read a recent post of mine called my gift swapping with Ellie, then you will have seen that she kindly gifted my the Revolution mini eye shadow palette in Rose Gold. As soon as I opened this gift, I was so excited to try it. I have never experimented with using pink shadows on my eyes very much so this provided me with the perfect excuse too!

The palette contains 6 matte shades and 2 shimmers, it is quite a small palette but you do get a good amount of each shadow (especially the shimmers), you also get a very good quality mirror which makes it so easy to travel with and it has a gorgeous shade range.

The palette has a light toned brown shade in the top right corner which makes for a great base to layer the rest of the shadows on to. The light toned pink with purple undertones which is next to it works really well in the crease or over the lid. The dark, plum shade is amazing in the outer corner as it adds a lot of depth and smokes the look out. Below these, the wine / dark purple shade is also fab for the outer corner. The light pink is quite out there so it is something that I struggle more to incorporate more in to looks but as it is so bright, it really adds a pop of colour to any look. Finally, there is a warm toned pink with brown undertones which is also great for all over the lid or for the crease to blend the other shadows together. All of the matte shades are very build-able and each one has different variations of pigmentation, I found that the lighter ones needed more layering.

As for the shimmers, there is a gorgeous light pink shadow in the top left hand corner which can also be used as a highlighter, when I have used this, I always apply it to my inner corner of on the inner proportion of my eyelid. The other shimmer is a darker toned pink which is also stunning. Both shimmers are very pigmented and surprisingly, have got little fallout.

Within this post, I though it may also be interesting to show you one of the eye looks that I have created whilst using this palette. I started off with my usual base routine and applied an eye primer before the eye shadow. To start, I applied the shade 3rd from the left in the bottom row all over my lid, I used a few layers so that it stood out and was pigmented. I then used the purple toned shadow just above it and blended this through my crease. I then used the light toned brown and applied it on the inner proportion of my eye lid so that there was a variation of colour. Finally, I mixed the 2 darkest shades and applied them to my outer corner and finished it all off by putting the light pink shimmer in my inner corners!

Thank you to Ellie for kindly gifting me this palette as you’ve pushed me to experiment more!! I wished that my phone quality could do the shadows as much justice as they looked so much more pigmented in person.

Thank you for reading, I hope that you enjoyed this post as I have loved testing out this eye shadow palette. If you’d like to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you can find me at @bethxkate

2019 Goals and 2018 Reflections

I can’t believe that it has already been a year since my last post like this! In all honesty, 2018 has been one of the best years of my life. This year, I was able to travel quite a bit, I also made/became closer to some amazing new friends and made some pretty big other achievements.

Firstly, I thought that I would list some of my achievements of 2018:

  1. Passing my driving test
  2. Buying myself a car
  3. Getting A,B,C in my AS Levels
  4. Going to London for the first time without my parents
  5. Going out on more day trips with my friends
  6. Being so much happier than I have been in previous years
  7. Doing driving trips that were very out of my comfort zone and getting over the fear of motorways
  8. Saving money
  9. Getting a new job
  10. Going to the gym regularly
  11. Being slightly more confident in myself
  12. Gaining more blog followers
  13. Improving my blog content
  14. Improving my photography skills
  15. Being added on to PIXI’s PR list (still cannot believe this and how lucky I am)
  16. Getting unconditional offers from 4/5 of my Uni applications, one of these being from my first choice

Although there has been many ups to the year, there has also been downs as no-ones life is perfect but this post isn’t about the negativity of the year!

Now, on to my goals for 2019 and everything that I would love to achieve this year:

  1. This ones boring so I’ll get it out the way.. going to the gym twice a week, currently I only go once as I find making the time to go so difficult but I definitely need to work on this!
  2. Spending as much time as possible with my friends. I now only have a few months left in sixth form and I want to make the most of it and value all of the time I’ve got left with my great friends.
  3. Getting good A Level results. Although my uni offer is unconditional, I still really want to do well in my exams and coursework.
  4. Following the same theme, I really aim to stay on top of my coursework this year. As all 3 of my subjects are mainly coursework heavy, this is definitely something I need to do.
  5. Getting to 3,000 blog followers and improving upon my views. I know its not all about the following and views but seeing people enjoy my content does really motivate me to push myself and keep to an uploading schedule.
  6. Saving money to take to uni with me. Ideally, I don’t want to work throughout first year as I really want to make the most of it but we will have to see how this goes!
  7. Settling in to uni. The thought of going is currently quite nerve wracking but also so exciting. In ways I feel ready to go but in others I know how much I’m going to miss my home and all of my friends in Cardiff.
  8. Finally, a goal that I always set myself, is to travel as much as possible, in 2019, I have already got 2 holidays booked abroad that I’m so excited for (one with friends and the other, family) but I would also like to explore to UK more and go on more day trips!

Thank you for following my throughout 2018, it was a great year for me and my blog and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! Let me know any of your 2019 goals in the comments!
