On Saturday, the 19th of January, it was my 18th birthday. I had an amazing day, I spent the morning with my family and then all of my friends came over in the evening for a house party. I asked on Twitter if anyone would be interested in seeing a get ready with me and it has a very positive response so here it is!
Firstly, for my outfit, I bought a black, long jumpsuit from Quiz. It had a black belt with a gold buckle on it which was two interconnected circles, it was very me as I love wearing black as I feel more comfortable in it and then wouldn’t be worried about bloating from drinking. To go with this, I bought new, black heels from New Look which were £18.99, the heels were a perfect height and were easy to walk in but after about 2 hours, I had to take them off as they rubbed a lot and my feet are still paying for it… For jewellery, I had to go out and buy new gold accessories as I always wear silver, I instantly knew that I was going to get them from Lovisa as they are so affordable and have lush jewellery. I picked out a set of 6 gold rings, all with cute designs on and a gold necklace with a black pendant on, this went so well with the dress that I knew I had to get it. Which made the jewellery even better, was the fact that it was buy one get one free, so in total, they only cost me £8 all together!!
Before my birthday, I had fake tanned so that I looked and felt better. My tan was not too dark as I like it to be natural, however, it did mean that my foundation was too light for me. To get around this, I used a small amount of my usual, Revolution foundation and mixed this with my darkest foundation which is the LA girl one, I loved this combo and felt that it matched my skin very well and gave me an amazing amount of coverage. For concealer, I used the Revolution Conceal and Define all over my face and the Collection Lasting Perfection under my eyes to brighten them. For powder, I used the Collection setting powder and for bronzer, I used the Revolution one as I swear by this!! For highlighter, I used my shimmer palette from PIXI, I love the natural glow that this gives off, I didn’t want anything too intense as I thought it may be too strong in pictures. As for eye shadow, I used my trusty Tartlette In Bloom and the PIXI shimmer eye shadow palette as this has the best pigmentation EVER. I then used a clear brow gel to set my brows and used the Urban Decay setting spray to lock everything in to place. Finally, I finished it off with my MAC Velvet Teddy lipstick (I’m on the hunt to find cruelty free shade like this). I was very pleased with my makeup and felt very confident with it!
Finally, I straightened my hair which took about 2 hours.. my natural hair is quite wavy but isn’t really tight curls, it just took so long because my hair is super thick but thought that I would do it as a one off as I like to every once in a while!
I had the best birthday and got absolutely spoiled. I was so grateful for all of the birthday messages from friends, family and everyone on Twitter! I also had a great day celebrating with my friends, although it ended quite messily (I’ll leave that up to your imagination but it was my 18th so go big or go home??).
Thank you so much for reading! I hope you enjoyed this post. Here’s to another year of blogging:) If you’d like to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you can find me at @bethxkate.
