My Skin Journey

My skin was always something that I was very insecure about, it started getting really bad around 2 years ago and ever since, I have done whatever I can to try and improve it and have finally discovered what works for me and wanted to share my experience in this post today. This has always been something that I was always afraid to talk about but now I have finally gained the confidence to share my experience.

About 2 years ago I was put on to the pill by the doctors, this was purely for the reason that I was having heavy periods and wanted them to be more manageable. This was the start of when my skin began becoming full of acne. As the pill I was put on was causing this, I went back and tried many others and there was still no improvements. This meant that I had to try many other methods to try and improve it in any way that I could.

Also during this time, I was going through a very rough patch at school, it was my GCSE year which was already full of stress, however, I also struggled with friendships and other situations but (thank god) that is now all in the past but I think that this also had an affect on my skin.

If you have read my posts for a while, then you might know that I have got quite oily/combination skin which has very red undertones. I tended to search for products which suited this skin type and was always let down. Even when trying brand such as Simple which states it is for ‘sensitive skin’, my skin ended up becoming worse and more inflamed.

After being added to PIXI’s PR list, I have been given the amazing opportunity to test loads of their skincare products which I am so grateful for. It is their skincare products that have really changed the game for me and I am so so much happier because of it!

My new skincare routine goes as follows:

  • PIXI Cleansing Gel (all over my face and eyes)
  • PIXI Glow Tonic (all over my face)
  • PIXI On The Glow Moisture Stick or PIXI Rose Ceramide Cream (all over face and eyes) I usually alternate this throughout the week
  • Finished with the Mario Badescu, Rose Water facial spray

This is what I tend to stick to now on a daily basis, I do sometimes try new products in between my routine to see if I can find something even better but the results that I have seen have been incredible.

I am also at a much better place in life than I was when this all began. I am so happy with all of the people that I have around me and have the best family and friends which I’m so grateful for. Being happy has also probably made a difference to my skin alongside having a better lifestyle and trying to eat healthier and going to the gym.

Also since starting this skincare journey, I am now on a new pill after having tried so many different ones, I even asked for the doctors for ones which were less known for giving people acne so this is something that I recommend doing if you are also struggling like I was.

Obviously my skin is not perfect and never will be but I am so happy with the improvements that have been made.

Comparison of my skin: then to now is shown below.

In all honesty, I can’t believe that I am uploading a picture of how bad my skin actually was as I was so insecure about it but this shows that it is normal and there are ways to come through it !

Thank you so much for reading, I hope that you enjoyed this post. My skin is nowhere near perfect but its such an improvement from where it used to be! If you’d like to follow me on Instagram or Twitter then you can find me at @bethxkate.

  1. Thank you for being vulnerable. Your gonna help a lot of people who are struggling with acne as well! I also have been through that, and still recovering. If you want you can see my pictures on My Story post!💕
