My Top 5 Holiday Destinations

I love travelling and it is something which I wish I could do more (if it wasn’t for all of the costs that come along with it). I am in no way a travel blogger and my only travel themed posts are travel diaries which I always enjoy writing and picking my image for but never take further so thought I would today.

For this post, I will be ranking my top 5 holiday destinations that I have visited. I am super grateful for all of the trips that I have been on but there are a few that I will never forget.

In 5th place would have to be Rome in Italy, I loved exploring Rome. There were so many different activities to do, the food was amazing (you can’gt beat a good pizza) and the places we visited were amazing. In Rome, me and my family did the typical tourist, open bus tour, this showed us so much and meant that we could get off at many different stops to explore throughout the day. Rome was also great for photography as it had stunning buildings and we had amazing weather on our stay which is expected in August.

In 4th place would be Cologne in Germany, I have been lucky enough to visit twice to the Christmas markets within December and both times have been amazing! I went once with school and once with my family, I preferred visiting with my family as there was more freedom and we crammed in as much as we could in to the days we were there. I would absolutely love to go back and this also makes me want to explore other Christmas markets! Sadly, I wasn’t as in to photography then as I am now but here is a picture from my 2012 trip on my very old camera of some weirdly shaped buildings in Germany near the Christmas markets!

In 3rd place is Venice in Italy.. as you can probably tell, I really liked Italy. Venice was a stunning city with gorgeous buildings and so many photography opportunities. I would have loved to go on a gondola and experimented more with the food I ate (as I basically stuck to pizza and pasta) but being there just felt like an unreal experience. The only down side to Venice was that it was quite busy and as the streets can be quite thin, it sometimes feels overcrowded. Here is one of my favourite pictures that I took in Venice, it was down a little alleyway where there was a small hotel.

If you know me then you have got to expect my 2nd choice which is Orlando, Florida. I love love love Florida for so many reasons. Of course, Disneyland is amazing but there’s so much more to it (but don’t get me wrong, I love Disney). Me and my family enjoy visiting the beaches which are usually about on hour away from where we stay, we also take advantage of the huge shopping malls and outlets and take time to relax and enjoy all of the amazing food! We also enjoy walking around Celebration which is an area in Florida reasonably near to Disney. It is a gorgeous place filled with classic american houses and a lake to walk around, the photo below was taken here.

Finally, my number 1 holiday destination would have to be Las Vegas, Nevada. I’m lucky enough to have visited 3 times which many people don’t understand as they see it as a one time holiday but me and my family never get bored and always find more to do. If you hire a car then this gives you the chance to visit the Hoover Dam and Grand Canyon which isn’t too far of a drive. There’s also so much to do whether it be the open top bus or an activity within the hotels. Something that we did on our 2018 trip was glow in the dark mini golf which we had never tried before and we all enjoyed. If you ever get the chance, go! It is not just a place for adults to go on hen or stag do’s, as a 17 year old, I really appreciate it as a place and everything it has to offer. Of course, I’d love to be able to experience the night clubs and pool parties but there’s so much more! This picture was taken outside of our hotel (the MGM Grand), you can also see the New York, New York hotel in the background which has got the roller coaster on it!

I really hope that you enjoyed this post as it is slightly different for me! Let me know your top holiday destination in the comments below.

Revolution Rose Gold Palette Review + Look

If you read a recent post of mine called my gift swapping with Ellie, then you will have seen that she kindly gifted my the Revolution mini eye shadow palette in Rose Gold. As soon as I opened this gift, I was so excited to try it. I have never experimented with using pink shadows on my eyes very much so this provided me with the perfect excuse too!

The palette contains 6 matte shades and 2 shimmers, it is quite a small palette but you do get a good amount of each shadow (especially the shimmers), you also get a very good quality mirror which makes it so easy to travel with and it has a gorgeous shade range.

The palette has a light toned brown shade in the top right corner which makes for a great base to layer the rest of the shadows on to. The light toned pink with purple undertones which is next to it works really well in the crease or over the lid. The dark, plum shade is amazing in the outer corner as it adds a lot of depth and smokes the look out. Below these, the wine / dark purple shade is also fab for the outer corner. The light pink is quite out there so it is something that I struggle more to incorporate more in to looks but as it is so bright, it really adds a pop of colour to any look. Finally, there is a warm toned pink with brown undertones which is also great for all over the lid or for the crease to blend the other shadows together. All of the matte shades are very build-able and each one has different variations of pigmentation, I found that the lighter ones needed more layering.

As for the shimmers, there is a gorgeous light pink shadow in the top left hand corner which can also be used as a highlighter, when I have used this, I always apply it to my inner corner of on the inner proportion of my eyelid. The other shimmer is a darker toned pink which is also stunning. Both shimmers are very pigmented and surprisingly, have got little fallout.

Within this post, I though it may also be interesting to show you one of the eye looks that I have created whilst using this palette. I started off with my usual base routine and applied an eye primer before the eye shadow. To start, I applied the shade 3rd from the left in the bottom row all over my lid, I used a few layers so that it stood out and was pigmented. I then used the purple toned shadow just above it and blended this through my crease. I then used the light toned brown and applied it on the inner proportion of my eye lid so that there was a variation of colour. Finally, I mixed the 2 darkest shades and applied them to my outer corner and finished it all off by putting the light pink shimmer in my inner corners!

Thank you to Ellie for kindly gifting me this palette as you’ve pushed me to experiment more!! I wished that my phone quality could do the shadows as much justice as they looked so much more pigmented in person.

Thank you for reading, I hope that you enjoyed this post as I have loved testing out this eye shadow palette. If you’d like to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you can find me at @bethxkate

2019 Goals and 2018 Reflections

I can’t believe that it has already been a year since my last post like this! In all honesty, 2018 has been one of the best years of my life. This year, I was able to travel quite a bit, I also made/became closer to some amazing new friends and made some pretty big other achievements.

Firstly, I thought that I would list some of my achievements of 2018:

  1. Passing my driving test
  2. Buying myself a car
  3. Getting A,B,C in my AS Levels
  4. Going to London for the first time without my parents
  5. Going out on more day trips with my friends
  6. Being so much happier than I have been in previous years
  7. Doing driving trips that were very out of my comfort zone and getting over the fear of motorways
  8. Saving money
  9. Getting a new job
  10. Going to the gym regularly
  11. Being slightly more confident in myself
  12. Gaining more blog followers
  13. Improving my blog content
  14. Improving my photography skills
  15. Being added on to PIXI’s PR list (still cannot believe this and how lucky I am)
  16. Getting unconditional offers from 4/5 of my Uni applications, one of these being from my first choice

Although there has been many ups to the year, there has also been downs as no-ones life is perfect but this post isn’t about the negativity of the year!

Now, on to my goals for 2019 and everything that I would love to achieve this year:

  1. This ones boring so I’ll get it out the way.. going to the gym twice a week, currently I only go once as I find making the time to go so difficult but I definitely need to work on this!
  2. Spending as much time as possible with my friends. I now only have a few months left in sixth form and I want to make the most of it and value all of the time I’ve got left with my great friends.
  3. Getting good A Level results. Although my uni offer is unconditional, I still really want to do well in my exams and coursework.
  4. Following the same theme, I really aim to stay on top of my coursework this year. As all 3 of my subjects are mainly coursework heavy, this is definitely something I need to do.
  5. Getting to 3,000 blog followers and improving upon my views. I know its not all about the following and views but seeing people enjoy my content does really motivate me to push myself and keep to an uploading schedule.
  6. Saving money to take to uni with me. Ideally, I don’t want to work throughout first year as I really want to make the most of it but we will have to see how this goes!
  7. Settling in to uni. The thought of going is currently quite nerve wracking but also so exciting. In ways I feel ready to go but in others I know how much I’m going to miss my home and all of my friends in Cardiff.
  8. Finally, a goal that I always set myself, is to travel as much as possible, in 2019, I have already got 2 holidays booked abroad that I’m so excited for (one with friends and the other, family) but I would also like to explore to UK more and go on more day trips!

Thank you for following my throughout 2018, it was a great year for me and my blog and I can’t wait to see what the future holds! Let me know any of your 2019 goals in the comments!

Christmas Day 2018 Makeup Look – Cruelty Free

I always like to pre-plan my hair, makeup and outfit ready for Christmas day as I always seem to be so busy and in a rush to get ready before all of the family come over at lunch time! I love reading posts like these so thought I’d share my own version. This makeup may change on the actual day but it is what I am planning on wearing! It definitely isn’t a look that I would wear everyday as you have to go slightly extra for Christmas:)

Firstly, to prime my face, I will most likely use the Revolution Pro-Base spray. I love this and use it on an everyday basis after moisturising in the morning. It is very lightweight which I love as some primers can feel very sticky and heavy which you don’t want early in the morning! You simply use a few sprays and then you’re ready to apply your foundation.

As for foundation, a current favourite combo of mine recently have been the Ordinary High Coverage foundation and the LA Girl PROCoverage foundation. When buying these on BeautyBay, unfortunately they came and were both the complete  wrong shades for me, the Ordinary being too light and LA Girl being too dark, so instead of wasting them, I tried mixing them together and once blended, I love how it looks. It gives a really glowy/dewy, full coverage look, however, as they are both build-able, it doesn’t need to be full coverage. I’m hoping that in the future, I will be able to get the correct shades in these but for now, I’m pleased with the result of them together.

As for concealer, I will definitely be using my classics. These being the Revolution Conceal and Define in C4 and the Collection Lasting Perfection in fair 1. I use the Collection one under my eyes as this is where I need the most brightness and the Revolution one over spots and around my nose area. These concealers have never failed to impress me and I can see myself using them for such a long time.

For powder, I have reasonably recently picked up the Collection Primed and Ready setting powder as for ages I used one from Rimmel (who aren’t cruelty free unfortunately). I love this powder as it sets everything so well and doesn’t make you have loads of flashback!

For bronzer, I am obsessed with the Revolution Ultra Bronze and have been using it to death over the last few months yet it is still completely full. This bronzer is really build-able and I love that it doesn’t go patchy or cakey throughout the day. Its a gorgeous shade for my skin tone and one of my favourite bronzers that I have ever owned.

As for highlighter/glow, PIXI recently sent me the most gorgeous palette in GildedBare Glow, it contains an array of white, pink and bronze highlights which can also be used as blush or to blend it all together which I’m obsessed with. It has an amazing concept and means you don’t have to spend time applying all individually. I tend to use the lighter end for my highlight and it gives a perfect glow which you can layer to become blinding. Thank you PIXI for sending me this to try out!

For my eyes, I ALWAYS prime with the MUA Pro-Base that Ellie kindly gifted me last year, this is the best eye primer that I have ever used. Its super cheap and so much better than the high end ones that I have tried, this truly does keep your eye shadow in place for so much longer.

Then, for eye shadow, I will mainly use the Soph X Revolution palette (the first one). I love this so much that I have already hit pan on a few of the shades. It has such a wide variety of shades which allows you to create many different looks which I love. However, this Christmas I will probably go for a classic brown and orange smoky eye and then to add a bit of sparkle, I will be using my PIXI Sweet Glow and mixing the shades Brilliante and Dulce as this creates a stunning, highly pigmented gold which goes perfect on the inner corners and makes it look like I’ve made a lot more effort!

As for mascara, I have been loving the Too Faced Better Than Sex mini that Ellie kindly gifted me this year in our blogger swap! I can’t wait until my next pay day so that I can treat myself to the full sized version. Its got a great applicator which allows you to get to all of your lashes!

For my lips, I will definitely be using the Colourpop Ultra Blotted Lip in Zuma which Ellie also gifted me this year in our blogger swap (she did very well haha). Its a gorgeous, dark toned pink/brown, it applies really well and is super long lasting which I love.

Finally, to finish everything off.. I set everything with the Urban Decay All Nighter setting spray which sadly, I’m running out of but will definitely be getting another one when I can. Couldn’t recommend this product more, it makes so much of a difference and makes everything last so much longer.

I’m so pleased that I have finally found loads of products that I love which are all cruelty free, I’m aware that a lot of the products are Revolution but they never let me down and they seem to always work well for me. I recommend all of the products mentioned so much as they work so well for me so hope they do for you aswell!

Thank you so much for reading, I hope that you enjoyed. If you’d like to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you can follow me at @bethxkate

Christmas Gift Swap with Ellie

If you were following my blog a while ago, you may have seen that me and Ellie from TheDiaryofEllie did a blogger box swap where we each sent each other some of our favourite beauty items. This Christmas, we have decided to do it again, however, we upped the budget to around £25-£30 (which we both definitely didn’t stick too.. especially Ellie) and decided to not give it a theme so we could buy each other anything we wanted.

In this post, you will be seeing all of the gifts that Ellie kindly gifted to me and on her blog she will be doing a post about what I got her! Click here to view Ellie’s version.. you won’t regret.

When opening Ellie’s gift to me, she had numbered each of the gifts so that I knew what order to open them in. The first gift contained 3 gorgeous prints which are amazing quality and I can’t wait to frame them or use them within backgrounds of blog posts so keep an eye out for them.

The next gift that I opened contained a little Winnie The Pooh trinket dish from Primark. This is so cute and I love little dishes like these to keep my jewellery and SD cards in. This would also make a really cute blog prop so look out for this in backgrounds aswell.

The third gift that I opened contained a gorgeous, pink makeup bag with 3 cactus’ on it. Inside it also contained 3 little goodies. These being, a Colourpop lipstick, a mini better Than Sex mascara by Too Faced and a Revolution concealer that was the wrong shade for Ellie. I was so excited by the mascara and lipstick as I’ve wanted to try Colourpop for so long and have also seen so many amazing reviews about the mascara, if I like this then I will definitely be buying the full sized version!

Ellie also kindly gifted me the Revolution Rose Gold mini palette, this looks absolutely gorgeous and I’m obsessed with Revolution. A full, in-depth review will be coming on this very soon so keep an eye out!

The forth and final gift that I opened, was the biggest of them all and I actually can’t believe that Ellie actually got me this. She got me the Spectrum Mean Girls makeup bag and brush set!! I saw this on Twitter and was soooo desperate to get it for myself but couldn’t spend that much on myself so close to Christmas so I’m so grateful that Ellie got me this.. I almost cried when opening it haha! Spectrum are such a great company and I love my other brushes from them so I’m extremely excited to try these ones and how cute is the bag??

I’m so so thankful for all of the gifts that Ellie got me and still can’t believe the last one, I’m also so grateful for our friendship and can’t wait until the day we finally meetup! Thank you once again Ellie, I can’t wait to see what you thought of all of the gifts that I got you!

Thank you for reading, I hope that you enjoyed. If you would like to check Ellie’s version of this post, click here, I definitely recommend that you do and give her a follow. If you’d like to follow me on Instagram or Twitter, you can find me at @bethxkate
